Take an interest. Indiana Landmarks sponsors a number of networking and interest groups to tackle specific preservation issues and provide a forum for sharing information and expertise.
Affiliate Council
To strengthen preservation statewide, our Affiliate Council brings together local preservation groups to exchange information and participate in special education programs. Groups that become members of the Affiliate Council also enjoy special benefits, including priority consideration for grants and loans from Indiana Landmarks' financial assistance programs.
African American Landmarks Committee
The African American Landmarks Committee (AALC) works to preserve and promote significant African American places in Indiana, and makes grants to support preservation and education projects targeting African American landmarks.
Courthouse Task Force
The Courthouse Task Force encourages county commissioners to embrace preservation and aims to win financial help for commissions and councils struggling to maintain and restore their historic courthouses.
Historic Spans Task Force
Indiana Landmarks formed the Historic Spans Task Force to work with federal and state official to develop a comprehensive rehabilitation program for Indiana’s historic metal and concrete bridges.
Indiana Modern
The Indiana Modern committee works to protect architecture of the mid-20th century. Too new to earn National Register status, landmarks of the recent past require heightened appreciation and special preservation strategies.
Indiana National Road Association
The Indiana National Road Association (INRA) focuses on preservation, tourism, and economic development along Historic US 40, the nation’s first federally funded interstate highway. An affiliate organization of Indiana Landmarks, INRA is headquartered at Indiana Landmarks’ Huddleston Farmhouse.
Rural Preservation Council
Rural preservation is a growing issue in traditionally agricultural states, and Indiana is no exception. The Rural Preservation Council organizes and sponsors programs to raise awareness of historic farms, barns, and rural conservation.
