Valentine DinnerSaturday, February 13
6:30 p.m.
Morris-Butler House, Indianapolis
Nobody celebrated Valentines Day like the Victorians, who elevated romance to an art form. Enjoy the full-blown fancy of a Victorian Valentine celebration at the Morris-Butler House in Indianapolis.
Chef Seth Elgar’s historically-inspired menu features begins with a trio of oysters in three different styles—Normandy, Perigord, and Florentine.
A creamy soup of local butternut squash with apple precedes the main course of pork loin, Indiana bacon-braised brussels sprouts, and caramelized shallot mashed potatoes. Salad features heirloom tomatoes, asparagus, and greens dressed with tomato vinaigrette. For dessert, guests will savor vanilla bean poached pear with fromage blanc sorbet, chocolate tuile, and toasted hazelnut.
After dinner, guests will adjourn to the parlor for a reading of classic Victorian love poems and tours of the house.
Cost: $130 per couple. Reservations required by February 5.
