How to research your historic home

Tuesday, May 19

6 to 7 p.m.
Morris-Butler House, Indianapolis

Researching a historic house can be a fun—and sometimes challenging—endeavor. Learn tricks of the trade and helpful hints during a special workshop designed for research amateurs who want to sleuth out the details of a house’s history. The hour-long workshop is led by research expert Suzanne Stanis, Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana’s Director of Heritage Education and Information. During her 20 years with the organization, Stanis has researched and nominated more than 15 buildings and neighborhoods to the National Register of Historic Places. As librarian for the foundation’s Information Center, she regularly provides assistance to people researching their own historic houses or looking for accurate period paint colors and decoration.

Cost: $10 per person, $5 per member of Historic Landmarks Foundation
